Residential High-Efficiency Heating Equipment Rebate Program

National Grid's Rhode Island Heating, Water Heating and Controls Program has been suspended.

Effective April 19, 2010, National Grid's Residential High Efficiency Heating Program in Rhode Island has been suspended until further notice. The state of Rhode Island approved program funding for 2010 that was significantly below last year's level and those funds have been exhausted. Rebate applications for eligible equipment and controls will be honored if rebate application is received by midnight, April 30, 2010.

The High Efficiency Heating Program in Rhode Island offered rebates for high efficiency heating and hot water heating equipment, as well as thermostats and boiler reset controls.

Heating equipment is typically the largest energy user in the home. If a natural gas furnace or boiler is more than 20 years old, it is probably running very inefficiently compared to today's models. One way to help offset the rising cost of energy and significantly reduce heating costs is to replace an old furnace or boiler with new high-efficiency heating equipment. In fact, a new furnace or boiler can save up to 30% of your heating energy use.

Rebates up to $1600 are available for heating equipment that meets or exceeds the following Annual Fuel Usage Efficiency (AFUE) ratings:

$400 rebate Warm Air Furnaces Greater or Equal To 92% AFUE rating
$200 rebate   Steam Boilers Greater or Equal To 82% AFUE rating
$500 rebate   Warm Air Furnaces Greater or Equal To 92% with Electronic Commutated Motor (ECM) or listed on www.gasnetworks.com as electrically efficient.
$650 rebate   Warm Air Furnaces Greater or Equal To 94% with Electronic Commutated Motor (ECM) or listed on www.gasnetworks.com as electrically efficient.
$500 rebate   Forced Hot Water Boilers Greater or Equal To 85% AFUE rating
$1000 rebate   Forced Hot Water Boilers Greater or Equal To 90% AFUE rating
$1600 rebate   On-Demand Condensing Unit - Minimum AFUE Rating of 90% with hot water storage of 2 gallons or less
$1000 rebate   On-Demand Non-Condensing Unit - Minimum AFUE Rating of 85% with hot water storage of 2 gallons or less
$200 rebate   After-Market Boiler Reset Controls - Must be connected to a natural gas boiler
